The second annual gathering of stakeholders interested in Alaska's outdoors as a driver for rural economic development and healthy lifestyles will take place at the Valdez Civic Center. Attendees expected to participate include a non-denominational cross-section of outdoor-focused elected officials, planners, land managers, businesses and non-profit organizations.
Fresh and dynamic, the Valdez Rock Climbing Fest welcomes everyone to learn, connect and celebrate climbing and climbing culture under the Midnight Sun. Whether you're a gym climber translating your skills to natural rock or a veteran out to push your skills to new heights on new routes, Valdez welcomes all ages and skills. Plenty to keep non-climbers happy all weekend too with music, slacklining and yoga so come alone and make new friends or bring your own posse.
Fun, festive and bold, the Chugach Fat Bike Bash celebrates the best of Alaska fat bike culture and Valdez. Dates have been extended this year primarily to allow a bigger weather window for our epic Downhill World Championship but the heart of the event takes place over the weekend, starting Friday night with the bedazzling Ursa Major Northern Lights Criterium. The cross-country race and rodeo welcome riders of all ages and skills. The Chugach Fat Bike Bash pushes this Alaska-born industry in fresh, new directions.
The heart of this wildly accessible and user-friendly ice fest takes place in iconic Keystone Canyon. Learn or perfect your expertise on ice by day with clinics, gear demos and our Alaska-scaled speed comp, socialize with climbers and connect with Valdez at night with Mountainfilm, a dance party, bonfire feast and more.

From this parking spot follow the old Jeep dirt trail 1/2 mile to the second side trail on the right. The path leads straight to a sporty, 700-ft approach hike which ends at the base of Lookout Rock.
